Mentoring

Photography & Creative Practice Mentoring

One-to-One • Paid • Reflective • Professional

A quiet mentoring space for photographers and creatives

This one-to-one mentoring is for photographers and creatives who want to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with their practice — or develop clarity and confidence in their professional direction.

This is not teaching and not a course.
It is a paid mentoring relationship grounded in conversation, looking, reflection, and professional insight.

What this mentoring offers

Each mentorship is shaped around you and your practice. Sessions may include:

  • Reflective discussion around your photographic work

  • Slow, considered portfolio reviews

  • Exploring personal visual language and ways of seeing

  • Support through creative blocks, transitions, or burnout

  • Reconnecting with practice beyond productivity or teaching

  • Professional development mentoring (direction, confidence, sustainability)

  • Gentle accountability without pressure or fixed outcomes

There is no curriculum, no assessment, and no expectation to produce work unless that feels meaningful to you.

Portfolio Reviews

Portfolio reviews are offered as part of mentoring sessions or as a standalone option.

These reviews are:

  • Thoughtful and easygoing

  • Focused on coherence, intention, and visual voice

  • Suitable for personal projects, course submissions, funding applications, or professional development

  • Rooted in dialogue rather than judgement

Portfolio reviews are not about “fixing” your work, but about understanding what it is doing and where it wants to go.

Who this mentoring is for

This mentoring may be particularly suited to:

  • Photographers returning to personal practice

  • Artists navigating change or transition

  • Creatives feeling disconnected or stuck

  • Educators stepping back into their own work

  • Those seeking professional reflection rather than instruction

  • Emerging or established photographers wanting space to think deeply

You do not need to be producing work at speed, or aiming for a specific outcome.

How sessions work

  • Format: One-to-one (online or in person where possible)

  • Length: 60–90 minutes

  • Frequency: Usually every 4–6 weeks

  • Duration: Single sessions or short mentorships (3–6 months)

Sessions may involve looking at images, talking without images, or walking and reflecting — depending on what best supports you.

Payment & boundaries

This is a paid mentoring service, which helps keep the space clear, professional, and sustainable.

Mentoring is:

  • Confidential

  • Non-directive

  • Not teaching or therapy

  • Not outcome-driven

Payment honours time, experience, and presence.

Ways to work together

You might choose:

  • A single mentoring session

  • A portfolio review session

If you’re unsure what you need, we can discuss this before booking.
